Investigations into printing on to fabric . .

At the end of my last project I had only really just begun to start experimenting with printing on to fabric, and it was something in my evaluation I said I wanted to develop, and was again mentioned in the feedback I got. I have been researching the different companies that people on the construction side of the course use, and Fabpad, has been the most common.

However after looking at the fabrics they are able to print on, they are all going to be too light weight, I wanted to use a heavier weight fabric like calico. There is one option, the cotton canvas which is labeled as 'heavy', 150cms wide and costs £8.80 a metre, which is probably all I'd need as I'm only looking to print a maximum of ten images/pages onto fabric. I am going to attempt to contact Fabpad and see if they are able to send me a sample of the Cotton Canvas, and see if it's appropriate.

I'm going to talk more to the people that have ordered from the company before. Given the intended RRP of the publication I'm not sure if this process would be too expensive, and therefore push the price of the publication up too much, something that definitely needs further investigation.

I'm also going to experiment further and see if I can get some more successful results with the transfer paper I used in the last project.
