Country Living inspiration . . .

I have been an avid fan of Country Living, and would one day love to work at the magazine. I recently received the April issue through the post. It has some truly beautiful imagery, after looking through the publication closer, I noticed that the all of the pages feature some from of imagery whether it be illustrated of photography, creating an image rich publication, something for the reader to continually look at and observe within each of the photos. This is something I would like to incorporate within my own publication, however to achieve this I would need to do a few more shoots to get anywhere near the standard of Country Living.

I love the shoot below, Step Into Spring, it's a different way of displaying interior items and fully reflects and is in keeping with their love of the British Country-Side. A lot of the Products featured are from less well known brands with a few high street retailers thrown in, reflective of their target customers shopping habits, the prices are also reflective of this. Something I need to think about when reviewing my target reader.

Looking through the issue
has given me food for thought in terms of layout of images, using black text in the corners of full page images, and having images running to the edge of the page. Something Alex from Arts Thread yesterday picked up on, after I showed him some of the publication. I have used round edge corners on all of my images, and where I have overlapped some of the images they kind of merge into one and other, there's no clear distinction. He suggested maybe having one or two that have the rounded edges and then experiment with other shapes, so that the reader is kept interested.
