Tutorial with Tiffany . . .

I haven't had a tutorial with Tiffany for a couple of weeks, but as I hadn't really achieved much in terms of layout etc, I wanted to wait a while before showing her anything. I have got about 65% of the publication finalised now, a more substantial amount of work to show.

The tutorial was really helpful, the main issues that were brought up were -

* Product Pages - try looking at more niche brands in keeping with the niche independent ethos of the publication. Investigate Crickle Wood, a home/lifestyle store in Christchurch that sells independent brands. Could also look at museum shops and the kind of things they sell in there?

* Paper cut advertising - maybe stop persuing this area, isn't something that truly reflects the brand. something that I love doing opposed to doing it to benefit the project in any way.

* Packaging not really reflective of the publication, looks a bit cheap, compared to the high cover price of the publication. Research further into the idea of using wood within the packaging, as well as other materials that could be successfully utilised. It would also make the publication more eye catching to potential readers on the shelf.

* Advertising - Could look at commissioning a brand to produce some advertisements in the style of the publication, would bring in some much needed funding and would therefore lower the cover price.

I completely agree with what Tiffany has said about both the packaging and advertising, the paper cuts where something that I really enjoyed doing, but the reality of actually using them within an advertising campaign is not at all practical as they are so fragile.
